Turning Point

From our holiday weekend at Ventura beach:

When I started this blog, I was excited to have Archives.  Archives for the month of January!, for February! and so on.  It’s neat to look back on a monthly basis and review the encapsulated month and its various goings-on.  This blog was really supposed to be a daily repository for My Everyday Whatever and for the past couple months, I have totally failed!

The funniest part about my lack of posting is that the month of May has been the most tumultuous of the year, maybe even the last 5 years.  I lost a job and gained a new one(s). I had been working on becoming an independent contractor, working freelance jobs and yesterday I submitted my very first invoice.  The tide is turning and I can feel the rumbling from beneath… which could also be the butterflies in my tummy.

I have been out of work, free as a bird, for the past 3 1/2 weeks. It’s been interesting, to say the least!  I haven’t been unemployed for 16 years.  I am learning a lot about myself and what motivates me.  I know that I need some sort of anchor, a project (preferably with a deadline), something to help schedule out my day. Otherwise, I am a ship lost at sea.

Admittedly, it’s nice to not have to “go to work” in the morning but there is something to be said about having a place to go and a project to do each day. How do you spend your days?  Is it at work?  Is it working from home?  Is it “working” at all, and do you feel the need to have some sort of something to do everyday?
